To celebrate the launch of our Summer Solstice Collection, Solstice Tokas™ and Solstice Zephyrs™, we’re shining a light on their design and inspiration process. We caught up with SunGod's Head of Content, Bronte, and Graphic Design Lead, Rob, to deep-dive into the Summer Solstice SunGods and learn how the collection came to life.

The Inspiration
“Ultimately, we wanted to share a modern essence of what we feel during the Summer Solstice - an event that culminates in an impressive long evening. We’ve had to take a step back to capture the feeling of solstice: to take a second to appreciate this time of year, since it only happens once annually. The design has been created to encapsulate not just an activity, but also a moment in which our community takes a second to rest and appreciate all that is around them.” - Bronte
“Everyone in the Northern Hemisphere shares the same experience of Summer Solstice, and, though different traditions depend on different cultures, it also resonates with our passion for community. In the peak summer months, Summer Solstice seems sometimes to be a missed opportunity for celebration, so we decided to draw some attention to the longer days and the pure fun of summer!” - Rob
The Final Product
“During the design process, our goal was for everyone to see the solstice the same way at the same time. This means our community can view the solstice 'hue' whenever the skies get a little darker, to remind them shorter days don't last forever! This is how we arrived at the Amber lens. Paired with our Gold Tortoiseshell Frame and unique Gold Icons, this creates a vibrant vision of sunsets and summer days.” - Bronte

“We created an Icon that feels contemporary, with imperfect forms in the general shape of the sun - they’ve got to be one of my favourite parts of the Summer Solstice pairs! We’ve been able to use this Icon symbol as a representation of the inspiration behind the design, which is a nice full circle moment." - Rob
