Meet Phil Sesemann, the Junior Doctor turned Marathon Runner.
With relentless drive and a racing pedigree to match, Phil is chasing records - now powered by SunGod’s newest performance sunglasses.
Born and raised in the UK, Phil Sesemann swapped life as a junior doctor for the fast-paced world of elite marathon running. A former A&E medic in Leeds, he burst onto the scene in 2021, finishing as the top British male in his London Marathon debut. Since then, he’s sharpened his speed, outpaced legends, and steadily climbed the ranks of British distance running.
Phil’s marathon journey has been nothing short of impressive. In 2023, at his third London Marathon, he delivered a standout moment - surging past Mo Farah in the final 400 meters to finish eighth in 2:10:23. He’s also clocked a 2:08:04 at the Seville Marathon, securing his spot for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Training at high mileage - often with his dogs Haile and Kipchoge at his side - Phil is proving he has the legs and the mentality to compete at the very top.
As Phil lines up for the 2025 London Marathon, he’s bringing something new to the race. He’ll be debuting brand new SunGods. Built for athletes who push the limits, these performance sunglasses will face their first marathon test on one of the sport’s grandest stages.
Phil's sights are set on continued marathon progress, aiming to climb the London Marathon ranks and break into the Top 5. Expect him to take on the world’s most iconic races, from major city marathons to legendary endurance challenges like the Comrades Marathon. For Phil, every finish line is just the start of the next big goal.
