Maxime Chabloz

Freeride Skiing & Kitesurfing

Team SunGod

Maxime Chabloz is re-defining the rules of what it is to be a dual talented athlete...

He may be only 23 years old but don't be fooled. Maxime Chabloz is already turning heads and taking world titles in not one sport, but two. This winter, despite being a relatively unknown face in freeride skiing, Max completely dominated the Freeride World Tour in his rookie year in 2022, winning the men's ski category overall to become one of the youngest World Champions in the history of the sport.

Now Maxime Chabloz is a name no one is likely to forget. And, it's pretty hard to imagine when you see the way he effortlessly tears up any big mountain line, throwing in a signature backflip here and a cork 7 there, that skiing wasn't the first and only sport he's won a World Title in...

How it all started...

Born and bred in Switzerland, Max is a total natural on skis having learned to ski as soon as he was able to walk. But for many years, skiing remained a hobby for max, as he focussed his efforts towards a newfound talent for kitesurfing. At 15, the allure of kitesurfing became too strong to resist and he left school to pursue the sport full-time, going on to win 4 kitesurfing junior world titles.

"For me, the goal is to become World Champion in skiing and kitesurfing."

By the time he was 18, Max began to crave the cold and snow in his home country. So, in 2019 he committed to splitting his career between kitesurfing and freeride skiing. Max dominated the podiums during his first winter season and later that same year, he was crowned Junior Freeride World Tour champion. And in pretty record-breaking fashion, it only took one season on the senior FWQ circuit to secure a spot on the Freeride World Tour, which for most riders is the best it ever gets. But for Max, this was just the beginning and a mind-blowing rookie season on the FWT followed where he dominated the mens ski category. Max's ability to combine bold and powerful freeride skiing with technical freestyle elements meant that he was able to hold off some of the best freeride skiers in the world to be crowned the Freeride World Tour Champion 2022.

With so many world titles to his name, it is hard to believe that Max is as young as he is. At this point, he'd be forgiven for sitting back on his laurels but that's just not Max's style. He's gone on to prove he's a consistent athlete, dominating in a similar style on the 2023 Freeride World Tour, where he was crowned vice World Champion.

This summer, you'll find him and his favourite SunGod watersports sunglasses on the GKA circuit as well as the GWA Wing Foil World Tour chasing down the title of kitesurfing World Champion to add to the collection. If one thing is certain, Max is on a mission to push the envelope of what it means to be a multi-talented athlete, and we're here for it!
